Marie's Angel Gingerbread

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift the flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, and ginger together. In a separate large bowl, mix the sugar, molasses, and melted vegetable shortening. Add the sifted ingredients and mix in the boiling water. Pour mixture into a lightly greased and floured 9x9-inch cake pan and bake for about 25 minutes. (Serves 9)

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup unbleached, granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup melted vegetable shortening
  • 1 and 1/4 cups unbleached flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
